Meta video ad spec and safe zone checker

Enter your video's width, height, length and file size. The checker tells you which Facebook and Instagram placements it fits, what to change if it doesn't, and shows the parts of a 9:16 frame that Reels and Stories cover with buttons and captions.

The Reels and Stories safe zone

Meta asks you to keep text, logos and the product's key moment out of the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% at each side of a 9:16 frame. On 1080 x 1920 that leaves a box from 269 to 1248 px down and 65 to 1015 px across.

Reels safe zones, explained

Shaded: where Reels shows the profile, caption and buttons. Dashed: safe for text.

Questions

What size should a Reels ad be?
9:16. Meta's ads guide recommends 1440 by 2560 pixels; 1080 by 1920, the size RhythmAds exports, is accepted too. Meta asks you to keep text and logos out of the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% at each side, where Reels shows the profile, caption and buttons.
Can one video run in every placement?
A 9:16 video can run in Reels and Stories, and Meta can fit it into feeds, but a feed crops or letterboxes it. If the feed matters to you, export a 4:5 version too. RhythmAds makes both from the same storyboard.
Where do these limits come from?
From Meta's own ads guide and help pages, linked under the results with the day we checked them. Meta changes specs, so check the source before a big launch.
